Play Day and Skating Party
Wednesday was a FUN FUN FUN Day! Play day at school all day outside activities. Allyssa participated in the toilet paper wrap, got her face painted, tatoos on her hand and arm, hair spray painted, the tater sweep, boat races, ring toss, just lots of fun. Then in the evening we went to the end of the year skating party for AWANA. I even skated w/ Allyssa, it was fun, but I am sooo tired today, that was just way too much activity packed in one day!! :) So today has been very VERY uneventful!
Prank Calling 911... Accidentally of Course!
I have been having trouble w/ my cellphone and was waiting for the new phone to arrive in the mail, so in the meantime I was using my old cell phone... sooo allyssa was allowed to play w/ my cellphone that was broken with an old sim card in it so it would power up and everything but she couldn't actually call out on it. Or so I thought... all of sudden she came running to me "Oh my gosh oh my gosh I called 911.. it's not suppose to work but i think it did" all of this is just flying out of her mouth and her eyes are as wide as ever, she's practically in tears, and holding out the phone to me so wanting to get it out of her hands! I said "oh allyssa that phone doesn't really work remember, it okay you can pretend" and she's getting hysterical "No really mommy I called 9-1-1 " and that's when I heard, "Please let me speak to your mother or father" and that's when allyssa let it all out and started bawling! I took the phone and put it to my ear and yes the dispatcher lady was on the other end, I explained the situation and apologized and all was well, end of call. So now to calm allyssa and explain it was an accident it's okay, it's over and the lady understands. There was a big 9-1-1 icon on the screen so I fixed it to where it wasn't there anymore, and gave the phone back to allyssa to play.... and only a minute later same scenerio plays out, she comes running to me again hysterical, "I did it again" OMG, once again explain to the lady and apologize again, and this time take the phone away...No more playing w/ the phone! :) pretty neat though that even if you don't have a current sim card in you can't call out anyone else but if you have an emergency you can reach 911 (or in our case even if you don't have an emergency.. ha)

If Only I Could... I would in a Heartbeat!!!
Driving Allyssa to school this a.m. she said "Mom, sometimes I wish I could trade places w/ you for a day... then you would see how hard it is for me having TS!, I Know it's hard for you knowing that I have it, but if you had it you'd know it's harder for me!"
Well there you have it... what can you say to that????
I have thought that myself a million times over... if only it was me!!! But.. it's not, so we just keep turning to God for the help to get through!
Allyssa has started voicing her "hatred" of TS and the tics... she says "I hate that I can't get excited like other kids, because If I get excited I'm gonna yell and scream and tic all over the place.. and then I look Weird!"
Again... what do ya say to that?????
Easy for me to say.. Oh just tic and let it out, it's better for you if you do... I'm not the one having to do these "strange" things in front of others!!!
I know that we are very Blessed, and I know that there are children out there w/ alot worse things going on, I thank God everyday... but it's still heartbreaking watching your little one suffer... God Help Us!!!

Softball Practice
Allyssa had her first softball practice last night. She was the youngest one on the team, but did fairly well. The coach was good w/ her and she had fun. She did mention that her tics distract her though, she does a tic that involves turning her head to the side as if she is looking over her shoulder, soooo as Allyssa says "Mom, it makes me take my eye off the ball !!" but she did pretty good w/ it, so we'll see how it works out. Her games haven't started yet, they will be on Tues. and Thurs. nites when they do begin....
Another practice Thurs. nite.. gymnastics tonite... Awana Awards Wed. night... Busy, Busy, Busy!!

Allyssa's 4th Place Overall
Allyssa had her first gymnastics meet here in Poplar Bluff on Saturday. She placed 4th overall and individually she scored 8.7 on vault for 4th place, 8.6 on bars for 5th place, 9.3 on beam for 1st place, 8.8 on floor for 3rd place! We were so proud of her, she is very scared of the bars, having to turn upside down and flip over bar is very scary to her, she has never been able to do it in practice, but at the meet she just flipped right over the bars and did wonderful!
The meet got off to a difficult start for her, she was extremely nervous... therefore lots of tics were happening, the teacher had them sit against the wall to wait for their turn, it was very crowded in there and noisy, ally had to jump up several times, and do her tics, well her teacher told her to sit down, Ally told her she couldn't help it.. and the teacher ignored her and said just sit down, well after several attemps by ally to explain that she couldn't help it, I went over to ally because by this time she is crying... but she is sitting down as the teacher asked... this is only going to create more anxiety, she needs to let the tics out... so I explained to Ally that she was fine, if she needed to let them out she was completely free to do so, I looked at her coach and said You Know she has TS and her coach looked back and said well yeah, but I didn't know she did all that stuff! So once again I explained to her that those were called tics and yes here lately all her old ones have come back plus some new ones. Well now it was fine with the teacher for ally to release them and all was well, except for Ally is already upset, and has been humiliated, so the effects of that aren't gonna disappear! :(
But as Allyssa always does, she went on and made the best of things! And had fun, in the only way Ally knows, her fun includes episodes of crying, hurt, embarrased, frustrated, tics... but at the end of the day she says "That was Fun" I can only Thank God for giving me such a STRONG and Courageous daughter!
